Ingredients
- 1 C Boiling Water
- 1 C Chopped Dates
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 C Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1 1/4 C Flour
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/3 C Pecans , chopped
- 1/4 C Brown Sugar , packed firm
- 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar , packed firm
- 1/4 C Whipping Cream
- 1 Tbsp Whipping Cream
- 2 Tbsp Butter
- Pecan Halves
- Maraschino Cherries

Instructions
- Combine water, dates and soda, stir well and let stand 15 minutes
- Cream 1/4 C butter
- Gradually add 1 C sugar, beating well
- Add egg and beat
- Combine flour, baking powder and salt and add to creamed mixture alternating with date mixture, mix after each addition
- Stir in vanilla and chopped pecans
- Pour batter into greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 loaf pan.
- Bake at 350 for 55 to 60 minutes
- Remove from pan and place on serving platter
- Combine brown sugar, cream and 2 Tbsp butter in saucepan and stir well
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 3 - 5 minute, stirring constantly until slightly thickened
- Pour over cake
- Let cool completely
- Garnish with pecan halves and cherries.
