Large dumpling type homemade noodles make this dish a favorite, especially in cold weather.
Another dish from Mom, submitted by Dan Goheen. Great first time around, even better as leftovers.
Ingredients
1+lbStew Meat
Salt, Pepper and water
2Beef Bouillon Cubes, if needed
Diced Potatoes
Noodles
2CFlour
1Egg
1TbspLard or solid shortening, may substitute 1 Tbsp oil
1/2CWater
1/2tspSalt
Baking Soda, "good sized pinch"
Instructions
Make Noodles while browning meat
Brown stew meat in large dutch oven.
Add salt, pepper and water to make a broth filling the pot to about 2/3rds full.
Add bouillon cubes
Add potatoes just before adding noodles
To make noodles, make a well in the flour.
Put remaining ingredients into well of flour and mix with a fork
Roll out dough thin and cut into 1" strips
Bring meat stock to a boil, add noodles.
Boil until the potatoes and noodles are done. Noodles will be plump and tender.
