Oatmeal Crisps
From Jeanette's Recipe Cards Option - while warm, place four squares milk chocolate candy bar between two cookies, sandwich style.
Ingredients
  • 3/4C Flour
  • 1/2tsp Salt
  • 1/2tsp Soda
  • 1/2C Sugar
  • 1/2C Brown Sugar (packed)
  • 1/2C Shortening (softened)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2tsp Vanilla
  • 1 1/2C Oats, quick or old fashioned
  • 1/4C Chopped nuts
Instructions
  1. Sift together soda, flour and salt.
  2. Add sugars, shortening, egg and vanilla
  3. Beat until smooth
  4. Stir in oats and nuts
  5. Pack dough into a box lined with wax paper, plastic wrap or aluminum foil.
  6. Chill several hours or overnight
  7. Cut into 1/4 inch slices
  8. Place on ungreased cookie sheets
  9. Bake at 350°
