Oatmeal Cookies
Perhaps Mark's favorite cookie. Soft, cake like, great with coffee or milk. This recipe was handed down by Grandma Fowler. It was one measured in tins. See the sugar cookie recipe for more information.
Ingredients
  • 3 1/3C Brown Sugar
  • 5 1/3C Oatmeal
  • 2 1/2tsp Baking Powder
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 1/2tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2Box Raisins (2-3 Cups)
  • 3 3/4C Flour
  • 1 2/3C Lard or fryings
  • 1tsp Cinnamon
  • 1tsp Ground Cloves
  • 1tsp Salt
  • 12Tbsp Milk
  • 1 1/2 Cup Chopped nuts
Instructions
  1. Cream sugar and shortening
  2. Beat eggs and milk together and mix in.
  3. Add baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  4. Add oatmeal, nuts and raisins
  5. Add flour
  6. Drop from spoon onto greased cookie sheet
  7. Bake at 400 degrees until firm and brown around edges. No fingerprint should remain when touched.
