Grandma's Divinity
From Jeanette's Recipe Cards Grandma most likely refers to Lena Hince.
Ingredients
  • 3C Sugar
  • 1/2C Light Syrup
  • 1/2C Cold Water
  • 2 Egg Whites
  • 1tsp Vanilla
  • 1/2C Chopped Nuts or Cherries
Instructions
  1. Cook sugar and syrup over medium heat until mixture forms a soft ball.
  2. Beat egg whites until stiff
  3. Pour 1/2 of syrup mixture into stiff egg whites gently.
  4. While pouring beat this while rest of syrup is boiling to hard stage
  5. Add gradually to other part, beating all the time.
  6. Add vanilla and beat until it loses its shine
  7. Add nuts or decorate with cherries when cooled
