French Orange Cake

Ingredients
Cake
  • 1C Butter
  • 2C Sugar
  • 1/2tsp Vanilla
  • 2Tbsp Grated Orange Rind
  • 5 Eggs
  • 3C Flour
  • 1Tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1Pinch Salt
  • 3/4C Milk
Sauce
  • 1/2C Butter
  • 2/3C Sugar
  • 1/3C Orange Juice
Instructions
  1. Cream butter and sugar together
  2. Add vanilla and orange rind
  3. Beat in eggs, one at a time
  4. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder
  5. Add flour mixture alternately with milk
  6. Spoon into greased & floured 10" tube pan
  7. Bake cake mixture for one hour at 350 degrees
  8. Make sauce while cake bakes
  9. Combining all in saucepan and cooking until sugar dissolves.
  10. Cool in pan on rack for 2 minutes
  11. Pour hot sauce evenly over cake while cake is still hot
  12. Allow cake to cool in pan thoroughly before serving.
