Great tasting sheet cake, easy to make. Pour on hot frosting. Each time Mom made this, it disappeared in a hurry. It is a great cake when you really do not have much time to put something together.
Ingredients
Cake Batter
2CSugar
2CFlour
1StickMargarine
1/2CShortening, may use margarine
4TbspCocoa, powdered & unsweetened
1CWater
2Eggs, beaten
1tspBaking Soda
1tspCinnamon
1tspVanilla
Icing
1StickMargarine
4TbspCocoa
1BoxConfectioners Sugar
1tspVanilla
Chopped nuts, optional
Instructions
Mix flour and sugar in mixing bowl
Put margarine, shortening, cocoa and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, cinnamon and vanilla to saucepan mixture.
Add contents of saucepan to flour and sugar mixture
Mix well
Pour into greased and floured jelly roll pan
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes
Start icing five minutes before cake is done.
For Icing - put margarine, cocoa and milk in a saucepan
Bring to a boil stirring to keep from scorching
Take off stove
Stir in vanilla
Add confectioners sugar and stir well
Add nuts if desired
Pour icing on cake as soon as it comes out of the oven
