Chocolate Moist Sheet Cake
Great tasting sheet cake, easy to make. Pour on hot frosting. Each time Mom made this, it disappeared in a hurry. It is a great cake when you really do not have much time to put something together.
Ingredients
Cake Batter
  • 2C Sugar
  • 2C Flour
  • 1Stick Margarine
  • 1/2C Shortening, may use margarine
  • 4Tbsp Cocoa, powdered & unsweetened
  • 1C Water
  • 2 Eggs, beaten
  • 1tsp Baking Soda
  • 1tsp Cinnamon
  • 1tsp Vanilla
Icing
  • 1Stick Margarine
  • 4Tbsp Cocoa
  • 1Box Confectioners Sugar
  • 1tsp Vanilla
  • Chopped nuts, optional
Instructions
  1. Mix flour and sugar in mixing bowl
  2. Put margarine, shortening, cocoa and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  3. Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, cinnamon and vanilla to saucepan mixture.
  4. Add contents of saucepan to flour and sugar mixture
  5. Mix well
  6. Pour into greased and floured jelly roll pan
  7. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes
  8. Start icing five minutes before cake is done.
  9. For Icing - put margarine, cocoa and milk in a saucepan
  10. Bring to a boil stirring to keep from scorching
  11. Take off stove
  12. Stir in vanilla
  13. Add confectioners sugar and stir well
  14. Add nuts if desired
  15. Pour icing on cake as soon as it comes out of the oven
  16. Cool and serve
