Apple Cranberry Sausage Stuffing
Great aroma and taste Modified from recipe found on the web. This will be a favorite for stuffing our turkeys. Enough to stuff a 10 lb turkey.
Ingredients
  • 5C Cubed and toasted bread - can be white and wheat or mix. May use commercial stuffing.
  • 1lb Sweet Italian Sausage or other bulk sausage
  • 1C Chopped Onion
  • 3/4C Chopped Celery
  • 2 1/2tsp Dried Sage
  • 1 1/2tsp Dried Rosemary
  • 1/2tsp Dried Thyme
  • 1 Tart apple, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 3/4C Cooked, chopped Giblets (optional)
  • 1/3C Fresh, minced Parsley
  • 3/4C Chicken or turkey stock
  • 4Tbsp Butter or Margarine, melted
Instructions
  1. Put prepared bread cubes in large bowl.
  2. In a large skillet, cook sausage till brown and crumbly. Break up any large lumps.
  3. Add onions and cook until onions are tender
  4. Add celery, sage, rosemary, and thyme, cook to blend flavors
  5. Add sausage mixture to bread.
  6. Mix in chopped apples, cranberries, parsley and giblets.
  7. Mix together stock and butter
  8. Drizzle over bread mixture
  9. Spoon into turkey to loosely fill cavities.
  10. Remove from turkey to serve
